Crane Pair in Flight - Metalwork - Sculptures

- Wildlife Series -

Two graceful cranes are shown amid flight through massive cattails in this elegant work. Varying shades of green, yellow, black, and grey present this as a realistic setting in which someone might spot a crane in the wild.

The crane is a large wading bird found in marshes in the Northern Hemisphere and in Africa. Although sometimes confused with herons, cranes are more closely related to rails and limpkins. Cranes are known for their loud trumpeting call that can be heard for miles and for the rhythmic, jumping dances both males and females perform during mating season.

Bird of Prey - Metalwork - Sculptures

Bird of Prey

-Wildlife Series-American Pride comes shining through in this beautifully sculptured Imperial Finish Eagle.

Titled "Bird of Prey".

Imperial Finish is a process designed to enhance the fine craftsmanship of this piece. Each work is meticulously sculpted by hand, cast in solid brass, and finished in a unique new patina of color. The piece endures a time-consuming lost-wax technique to reveal unparalleled detail. Enjoy this beautiful artwork for a lifetime.

The origins of lost wax casting process are shrouded in antiquity. It has been used for thousands of years to create metal objects that could not be produced in any other way (such as fine jewelry) because of their complexity. Each lost wax piece begins life as a finely hand-carved wax sculpture. After the model is touched up, vents and gates to channel the liquid metal into the mold are added. The model is then surrounded by a material that will withstand high temperature when baked. Following hours of baking, when the material has set and cooled, molten metal is carefully poured into the mold, melting the wax in the process (hence the “lost wax” designation). This process, once finally cooled, reveals the painstakingly created details of the original wax sculpture.

Due to its high cost and complexity, the lost wax method is a fading art form. This technique is proudly used to forge a breathtaking piece that will last for many generations.

Dimensions : 17H x 13.5W x 7.5D

15 Dolphin School Seascape - Statues - Metalwork

- Aquatic Series -
Spectacular school behavior is seen in this 15-dolphin statue, composed entirely of brass and mounted on a marble base for display. Standing over four feet high, this artwork is a tribute to one of the world's most intelligent, loving, and graceful creatures.

Dolphins are capable of imitation and memorization; they demonstrate foresight, learn from observation, communicate experience, solve complex problems, perform elaborate tasks, and learn multiple procedures simultaneously. Their so-called training is in fact a discipline structured around play, using their natural behavior as the basis for involved maneuvers; they appear to perform primarily for their own enjoyment.

Measurements: 52"H
Materials Used: Brass, Marble
Weight 117 lbs

Watercolor Waves | Watercolor Painting | Artist: Painter Lyn

Watercolor Waves

12x08, Watercolor Painting Framed in Glass

Artist: Painter Lyn

A wave is a disturbance that propagates through space or spacetime, often transferring energy. While a mechanical wave exists in a medium (which on deformation is capable of producing elastic restoring forces), waves of electromagnetic radiation (and probably gravitational radiation) can travel through vacuum, that is, without a medium. Waves travel and transfer energy from one point to another, often with little or no permanent displacement of the particles of the medium (i.e. little or no associated mass transport); instead there are oscillations around almost fixed positions

Looking up from the Hammock

Artist: Painter Lyn

There are generally many views that you can see looking up from a Hammock but in Florida State the most likely view in into Palm Trees. The Reason palm trees are used often in Florida State is because they have a rigid outer bark that withstands the pulling of the rope without the need for a branch.

Triple Falls | Oil Painting | Artist: Painter Lyn

Triple Falls

48x36 Oil Painting on Stretch Canvas, Framed in a Custom Hand Built Frame.

This is one of the Largest Paintings on Canvas Ever Created by Painter Lyn.

Artist: Painter Lyn

Triple Falls flows on the Little River through the DuPont State Forest. It is one of 4 major waterfalls on the Little River in this area, the others being High Falls, Hooker Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. Triple Falls has 3 distinct, different types of waterfalls.

Triple Falls has been known for years to local residents. In the 1990's, DuPont Forest was sold to the State of North Carolina, and as DuPont has completed cleanup of various areas, those areas have been made open to the public. A photograph of Triple Falls was one of the tools used to convince the state to purchase the property, which is now a 10,000+ acre state forest.

The Creator

16x20 oil painting on stretched canvas, Framed

Artist: Painter Lyn

The Creator is a painting to consider as a somewhat religious painting. If you do not believe that the earth was Created then you probably believe in Evolution.

Since we believe that the earth was created by a higher power greater then ourselfs, painting can be a representation of the The Creator. The Creator religiously would be considered God and how he created the Heavens and the Earth, Where as in a painting the Creator is the Artist, specificly in this painting Painter Lyn.

Sunset on the River | Oil Painting | Artist: Painter Lyn

Sunset on the River

16x20 oil painting on stretched canvas, Framed

This painting was inspired by the orange colors appearing in the sky as a result of fires in Central Florida

Artist: Painter Lyn

Central Florida is the central region of the United States state of Florida, on the East Coast. The region enjoys a hot but often stormy climate, with many thunderstorms, and hurricanes threaten often.

Although the exact area can be disputed, Central Florida tends to be thought of as the area including Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake, Brevard, and Volusia counties. Polk, Marion, Flagler, and Sumter counties are considered by some, including the local media, to be part of Central Florida. Although geographically in the central part of the state, usually the west central coast, including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, and Hernando counties, is considered the Tampa Bay area or the Suncoast, rather than a part of Central Florida. This area is known as the I-4 Corridor.

In 2006, the estimated total population of the Central Florida region was just over 3.5 million people. Central Florida is unique because it blends the traditional culture of the Deep South which is experienced in the northern part of the region as well as in the rural areas, with the typical "Florida" culture that is dominated by Northern and international migration.

Suburbia | Oil Painting | Painter Lyn

Suburbia

16x20 Oil Painting on Stretched Canvas, Framed

This Painting was inspired by Human development into Major Cities that drain the enviroment, and replace it with Processes

Artist: Painter Lyn

Suburbs are commonly defined as residential areas on the outskirts of a city or large town.[1] Residents of suburbs tend to live in single-family homes and commute by automobile to work. Suburbs tend to have some degree of political autonomy and lower population density than urban neighborhoods. The automobile enabled the growth of suburbs, which tend to proliferate near cities with an abundance of adjacent flat land.

Somewhere on the St. Johns | Oil Painting | Artist: Painter Lyn

Somewhere on the St. Johns

24x36 oil painting on stretched canvas, Framed

I went air boating along the St, Johns River in Florida on Cindy J's Air boat, this is what I saw.

Artist: Painter Lyn

As the sun rises over the saw grass marshes that mark the starting point of the St. Johns River, it slices through the mist that defines mornings in swampy central Florida. The rain that fell here overnight may evaporate in the afternoon, it may be used for irrigation, or it may wind its way along the length of the 310 miles of the St. Johns River and flow into the Atlantic Ocean.

Downstream, the St. Johns will declare itself a mighty river, but here in Indian River and Brevard counties, there are few defined banks and boundaries. Waterfowl, wading birds, river otters and shore birds inhabit the maze of tributaries and sloughs.

This portion of the river is fed mostly by rainfall, with the help of a few springs. The molecules of hydrogen and oxygen that mix in these shallow waters flow north — unlike many North American rivers — and begin a long, slow journey to the ocean.

The St. Johns River is commonly divided into three drainage basins. Basins, also called watersheds, are land areas that drain into a water body. Because the St. Johns River flows north, the upper basin is the area to the south. The middle basin is the area in east-central Florida where the river widens. The lower basin is the area in northeast Florida from Putnam County to the river’s mouth in Duval County, where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean.

The water travels this path slowly. The river’s total drop from beginning to end is less than 30 feet, or about one inch per mile, making it one of the "laziest" rivers in the world.

River Rain | Oil Painting | Artist: Painter Lyn

River Rain

16x20 oil painting on stretched canvas, Framed

I painted this in the Florida everglades, it's a rain cloud moving in at sunset

Artist: Painter Lyn

Rain clouds usually have particular characteristics. They are often large, grey clouds and appear dark because they are so large and full of water that sunlight cannot get through them. The heaviest rain falls from the deepest, darkest clouds which are high enough for the raindrops to develop properly.

Retro Magnolias | Acrylic Painting | Artist: Painter Lyn

Retro Magnolias

16x20, Acrylic on stretched canvas, Framed

Artist: Painter Lyn

Today is often used in a positive sense, referring to quirky or attractive products that are no longer available. For example, "Retro fashion" or "Retro Chic" may consist of outdated styles, such as tie-dyed shirts from the 1960s, or poodle skirts from the 1950s. A love of retro objects (things from the past) is called retrophilia.

Retro often reflects a sensibility aligned with camp. Camp is an ironic attitude, an explicit re-introduction of non-dominant forms.
